Operate the xArm 6 with UFACTORY Studio

This part is for the operator of the real arm. You run it from UFACTORY Studio, with the controls and programs it already has. You do not write or change a program here: that comes next, when you learn to program the arm. Practice each step in this site's simulator first, then do it on the arm with lab staff beside you. These seven pages are this arm's standard operating procedure.

Warning

Do not operate the arm until you have the training and authorization the lab requires, and lab staff have approved you to begin12. UFACTORY's manual says operators must be trained in UFACTORY Studio3.

What You Will Do

  • Operate the arm with its existing controls and programs: you may select and run an existing approved program, but not create or change one4.
  • The approved production task is IntelliMake's: the laser engraver run, with the 3D printer planned5.
  • In that task the xArm 6 at S6 handles parts after the laser engraver, routing them on to inspection, rework or shipping67. In the planned 3D-printed flow it also handles parts coming from the 3D printer8.
  • UFACTORY Studio is the main way the cell's arms are operated by hand9.
  • The Studio screens on these pages were taken on the xArm 850. The UFACTORY Studio manual covers both arms1011.

The Standard Operating Procedure

  1. Prepare: read UFACTORY's instructions, put on your protective equipment, inspect the arm and its area, find the emergency stop, and get approval121213. See Prepare.
  2. Connect your computer to the arm, power the arm up and open UFACTORY Studio14151617. See Connect.
  3. Set up: check the arm's settings with lab staff, enable it, go to a known starting position, load the part, select the approved program1819204. See Set up.
  4. Run the arm: jog it, use the gripper, run and stop an approved program2122. See Run.
  5. Monitor its status while it works23. See Monitor.
  6. Respond to an abnormal condition24. See Abnormal conditions.
  7. Shut down and secure the arm2526. See Shut down.

The checklist puts the checks on one printable page, and the operating report gives the headings for recording a run and its problems1227.

Key to the badges
Confidence: Verified
A manufacturer or IntelliMake document says so, or it was observed directly. It does not mean anyone measured it at S6.
Confidence: Inferred
Reasoned from Verified facts. The reasoning is printed with the record.
Confidence: Assumed
Plausible but untested. The record says how it would be checked.
Kind: Gap
Not known. No figure or answer is given in its place.
Kind: Contradiction
Sources disagree. Both sides are shown, and the site does not pick one silently.
Kind: Recommendation
Project advice drawn from the records it cites. Not a fact about the machine and not a confidence class, so the filter never hides it.
Awaiting cell access
Awaiting cell access: could be confirmed or corrected once the physical S6 cell can be observed.

UFACTORY Studio's connection screen, as used with the xArm 850 at S2 and reported on 2026-10-23, has an IP search field for the arm and a Connect Server button: the operator enters the IP address from the control box and clicks Connect Server. No reading of the screen with the xArm 6 is recorded.

Awaiting cell access: this could be confirmed or corrected once the physical S6 cell can be observed.

Why we infer this: Inferred, not observed with the xArm 6. The report (S241, 2026-10-23) is of UFACTORY Studio's connection screen as it was used with the xArm 850 (ops-216), as of that date and no further. The xArm 6 is operated from the same Studio software, whose manual lists the xArm 6 among the models it applies to (iface-502), and the xArm 6's Studio read 2.7.0 on 2026-10-16 (int-610), so its connection screen is inferred to have the same IP search field and Connect Server button; the screen was seen with the 850, and a different Studio version may lay it out differently. No screenshot of the connection screen is recorded, and no inspection is recorded. The same report says the Connect page's 'Open UFACTORY Studio' step 1 is incorrect; it makes no statement about the browser route the Studio manual's connection chapter describes (iface-505).
